Designed by Tobia Scarpa in 1963 and reissued by Flos in 2025, the Seki-Han Floor Lamp is a study in craftsmanship. Two vertical blades of ash wood, shaped with techniques borrowed from boatbuilding and joined by chrome-plated fittings, rotate around a central linear light source: open them for generous direct and indirect light, or close them almost completely and a slender, poetic sliver of glow still escapes. Its name comes from a traditional Japanese rice dish served on special occasions.
The blades rise from a raw black iron base, set apart by a collar. A custom-developed dimmable linear LED lights the lamp, which also accepts standard T8 LED tubes. Every wooden element is shaped and finished by hand, so the grain of each lamp is its own.
