Zuuk, designed by Ingo Maurer in 1994, is a small ceiling light with a sense of humour. A slim tube of heat-resistant, satin-frosted glass hangs at an angle from a fine stainless-steel rod, linked to its round ceiling plate by a single curving cable, so the light looks as if it has just paused in mid-air.
The frosted glass softens the bulb into a gentle, even glow, and a small anodized-aluminium shade at one end gives the tube a playful accent. Zuuk mounts on the ceiling or the wall, either onto a standard recessed box or with the surface-mounted box supplied, and several pieces together create a lively constellation.
